Counseling

Charlotte Strong

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. But is it always possible? If you are like the Rolling Stones song and you "see a red door and you want to paint it black," then you know you have to work a little harder, at turning life's lemons into lemonade. I do believe that anything is possible. And indeed any old sour lemon that life throws us can be turned into the sweetest lemonade. Not to sound like an eternal optimist, but. . . it is possible. Whatever life throws our way, we can overcome. Whatever conflict or struggle we may have, there is a way through it. It requires getting our thoughts and beliefs in the right place. And that's what therapy is all about.

Anxiety

Feeling restless, tightness in your chest, shortness of breath, nauseous? Have a sense of impending doom? Feel out of sorts, out of place, or out of body? You may think you have something medically wrong, but everything checks out fine. These are the common symptoms of anxiety.

I provide education, and information about the body, and causes of anxiety. And then fill your tool box with ways to deal with, and overcome this often debilitating problem.

NOTE: If you have the above symptoms, and have not been seen by a doctor, please do so, or go to your nearest emergency room. Symptoms of anxiety are also symptoms of life threatening medical conditions.

Depression

Feeling overwhelmed, exhausted for no particular reason, hopeless, helpless, oversleeping? If everything feels like it's a struggle, you might be dealing with depression.

I have helped a number of people through the pitfalls of depression. Whether its coming up with a daily plan to address symptoms or determining the right support system for you. You don't have to go through it alone.

Post Trauma Stress

Do You find your self waking up at night in a cold sweat? Nightmares, being hyper aware of surroundings, jumpiness, jitters, edginess, anger, irritation, and avoiding situations that remind you of a trauma you have had are just some of the symptoms of PTSD. If you have experienced a trauma, and feel that you have just not gotten through it, it may be time to reach out for a helping hand. The way that the brain and the body reacts to trauma is different for everyone. But there are some commonalities that make it PTSD. There is now more information available about how trauma affects the brain and body, and how we can turn it around.

I have a specific course of tools that I teach for moving the brain forward from PTSD.

Relationships

Communication. Coming together on issues of parenting or finances. Communication. Figuring out what to do about broken promises. Communication. Handling broken trust. Communication. Yes it's all about communication. I work with couples and families on learning to specific ways to hear each other. To talk to each other so the other will listen.

I have worked with numerous couples over the years. Some of them on the brink of divorce. Everyone reports having a better understanding of each other after the sessions. Many relationships saved yes, but couples counseling does not always mean reunification. Or keeping the relationship together. Sometimes it means parting peacefully. Whatever stage you are in, I provide you tools to hear and understand each other. Then, whenever possible, to come to an agreement in the relationship.

Life Coaching

You don't have to be experiencing emotional or mood problems to come to therapy. People come in to see me for help with understanding life path. The questions: What is my PURPOSE IN LIFE?; Should I leave my job and pursue this other career? Should I break up with this person that I don't believe is good for me? Should I confront this friend or family member who is . . .? How do I deal with the Narcissist/user/drain on my self-esteem, in my life?

Intuition

I Practice as an intuitive therapist. I believe that we all could benefit from learning to use our intuition. I help clients learn how to use their intuition to improve decisions in career, finance, parenting and every aspect of life.

Spiritual Emergence

Spiritual Emergence is a process of awakening of the soul. It can bring on anxiety and stress. It can make you feel as if you are losing your mind. If you are going through a spiritual emergence, there are daily activities that can help you through the symptoms. It is important that you inform yourself of the process, and work with someone who can help you through it.

I have worked with numerous individuals through spiritual emergence. If you think you might be experiencing a Kundalini rising or spiritual emergence, and would like to schedule with me, I can help you to determine if it is indeed spiritual emergence or another emotional issue.
